Healthy + Productive Morning Routine

Having a solid morning routine not only prepares you for the day head, but it is also a great chance to take control of how your day is going to look and feel. Creating a morning routine that makes you feel set up and ready to take on the day will leave you feeling productive long after the morning is done.

It may take some time to instill these habits (they say it takes 21 days to make and/or break a habit) but even implementing a few of these simple tips will change your morning and how you approach the day ahead. But it is important to keep in mind to follow what works for you and benefits your lifestyle. One of the most significant tips is to stay intentional with your day and not just cross off items on your to do list.

Wake up 30 minutes earlier

Although it feels great to sleep in and give our bodies some extra time in bed, waking up just 30 minutes earlier gives you some time to get settled into the day and make sure you have time to start the day off on the right side of the bed.

Make your bed

I love the feeling after I have made my bed! My room looks neat plus I have already accomplished a task first thing in the morning. This is key as it helps us to complete other tasks in the day. Plus it makes sure you don't end up crawling back into bed. An added tip is opening your blinds and window to let in the fresh morning air.

Wash your face + Brush your teeth

This is probably a given, but getting these simple habits out of the way first thing helps you feel refreshed and ready for the day. I love my skincare routine which you can find my clean skincare routine here (link).

Drink some lemon water and/or green tea

Our bodies need hydration in the morning and lemon water is great at that! Plus it gets things moving ... if you know what I mean. I love having lemon water first and then sipping on some green tea for the antioxidants and soothing feeling.

Grab your favourite book and read a chapter

This one I just started doing recently and I love it! I usually try to find a book that inspires me and helps promote productive thoughts. Currently I am reading Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King and it is a great one for the morning! It talks about self-love and manifestation which are wonderful topics to start your day with. So find a book that you will look forward to reading in the morning.

Journal, Meditate and Stretch

This habit depends on the day and what my body needs, but I notice a great difference in my mood when I journal in the morning. I started writing down 3 things I am grateful for in my agenda. By doing this, we help our brains to think positively and focus on all the good in our lives. I don't think that meditating and stretching are habits just for the morning. Stopping briefly during your day to refresh is beneficial for your mental health! An added tip here is to get some fresh air and sit outside do to your meditation and stretching.

Eat a healthy breakfast

Try to incorporate fresh fruit, protein and healthy fats in your breakfast so that you are fueling and nourishing your body with the nutrients it needs.

Check in with your Agenda/Planner

This may be my favourite on the list! Here you can see what your day ahead looks like and plan for the tasks you want to complete. It is also a great time to make a to-do list. There will be a post about making the ultimate to-do list soon!
